This July, we joined the global Plastic Free July movement with a simple goal: look at the everyday habits around The Rowing Pavilion and find practical ways to use a little less single-use plastic. For us, sustainability doesn’t need to mean completely changing the way we operate overnight. It’s about making better choices where we can, encouraging our crew and community to do the same, and building habits that continue well beyond July.

PAV IT FORWARD

Our Plastic Free July campaign, Pav It Forward, was all about making small changes that add up. Throughout the month, we encouraged our guests to think reusable, whether that meant bringing their own coffee cup, saying no to unnecessary single-use items or simply becoming a little more conscious about what gets used once and thrown away. Behind the scenes, our team also took the opportunity to look at the way we operate day to day and identify areas where we can reduce waste without compromising the experience our guests know and love. Because when you’re serving hundreds of coffees, meals and drinks each week, even the smallest change can make a difference over time.

MORE THAN JUST JULY

While Plastic Free July gives us a great reason to put sustainability front and centre, the bigger goal is making these choices part of everyday life at The Pav. We’re lucky enough to call one of Perth’s most beautiful riverside locations home, and looking after the environment around us matters. That means continuing to question what we use, where it comes from and whether there’s a better option available. Not every solution happens immediately, but every improvement moves us in the right direction.

THANK YOU, PAV PEOPLE

A huge thank you to everyone who got involved throughout July, especially those who brought their reusable cups, changed a habit or simply stopped to think twice about single-use plastic. Plastic Free July might be over for another year, but Pav It Forward isn’t. Here’s to fewer throwaway moments, more reusable ones and keeping our little patch of the river looking pretty bloody good for years to come.

See you by the river.
